Here are a few key elements.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><strong>1. Solid Research<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Adjacent to our last point, make sure you take the time to <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/absoluteinternship.com\/blog\/uk-vs-usa-top-5-corporate-cultural-differences\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">research the company<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> before you head out. Take some time to get an idea of their products and services as well as the overall industry. What is the company&#8217;s mission statement? Their history?<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">By taking the time to do this research, you&#8217;ll be better able to align your work with the organization&#8217;s mission and goals.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><strong>3. Willingness to Network<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Once you&#8217;re at your desk, don&#8217;t just sit at your desk! The value of your internship lies in your ability to step outside of your comfort zone and make new connections.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Don&#8217;t be afraid to ask questions, exchange business cards, and attend outings with your colleagues. The more faces you meet and hands you shake, the better.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><strong>4. Communication Skills<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Another thing you&#8217;ll want to bring with you into your internship is a solid set of communication skills. Practice active listening, ask questions, and seek out feedback whenever and wherever you can. Don&#8217;t be afraid to ask if you aren&#8217;t sure what something means!<\/span><\/p>\n<h3>5. The Ability to Manage Your Time<\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Another key skill for business interns to have is good time management. You&#8217;ll need to be able to take charge of your own schedule and get jobs done in a timely fashion. Unlike in school, you won&#8217;t have someone nagging you to get everything done. You need to take initiative and give yourself enough time to get all of your work tasks done.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><strong>6. A Sense of Adaptability<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">There&#8217;s a good chance that no two days you have as a business development intern will be exactly alike. Run with that. Don&#8217;t be afraid to pivot at a moment&#8217;s notice.
